Favorite Ads of 2024

Creating an ingenious advertising campaign has become more complex than ever.

Advertisers are constantly trying to differentiate themselves and have their message stand out. With a slew of ads circulating all around us and countless more pushed every day, creativity can be hard to come by, especially in out-of-home (OOH) advertising.

Still, we’ve collected three campaigns that truly broke the mold in 2024 and show that ingenuity is alive and well, ready to spearhead OOH advertising into 2025.

1

Deadpool & Wolverine x HEINZ

Many know the Deadpool and Wolverine franchises, and now the crossover movie that recently premiered. Deadpool & Wolverine showed the epitome of creative advertising through its partnership with HEINZ.

HEINZ is known for its iconic red and yellow ketchup and mustard bottles. The partnership set out to create a strong association between the two, since they share the same colors, and that’s precisely what it did.

Through clever geographic juxtaposition, the campaign inserted itself at the intersection of culture and many people’s irrational love for HEINZ. Recurring, scattered OOH ads connecting the two brands made it a massively successful campaign.

2

Smile 2

The Smile horror franchise combined 3D elements with guerrilla advertising to create an incredibly effective, sensational campaign.

Billboards with bright red colors captured attention from faraway onlookers, and 3D elements increased view time by creating an intriguing display.

Paired with guerrilla tactics, including appearances at highly public events, “Smile” signage in public areas, and hired individuals bearing eerie smiles, the campaign drew astounding attention ahead of the movie’s premiere.

3

Wicked

Continuing with 3D elements, the Wicked movie made excellent use of them—even to the point of seemingly defying gravity (pun intended).

Several OOH displays incorporated 3D florals and nature that contrast starkly with the 2D images, adding another layer of life and intrigue and increasing viewing time.

The florals blended effortlessly with the characters’ color scheme, enhancing the display rather than distracting from it, earning it a spot on our list of favorite ads.

What to Expect Next

2025 will be all about innovation, propelling OOH and countless other sectors into the future. Creativity will be at the forefront, paving the way for never-before-seen creations in how billboards and displays are designed.

3D everywhere

3D elements will be used en masse, especially with DOOH, making messages seem larger than life.

AI-powered OOH

AI will revolutionize OOH next, allowing messages to change in a heartbeat.

Stay Tuned

Advertising will transform throughout 2025, and we can’t wait to share which ads take the cake in our next end-of-year recap.
