BillboardsIn Helps Cavaliers Fan Retaliate with Billboards in Philadelphia

A little more than two months from now, Cleveland Cavaliers forward, LeBron James, will become a free agent and NBA fanatics everywhere are going to great lengths to court this highly sought-after all-star, particularly with billboard space.

Earlier this year, Power Home Remodeling Group, a roofing and window contractor headquartered in Philadelphia, decided to have their share of the fun by having three billboards placed in Cleveland, urging LeBron to join the 76ers. One of them simply read: #PhillyWantsLebron.

Now, in retaliation, using BillboardsIn, Cavaliers fan and CEO of Global Market Partners, James Betschel, installed two new billboards this April nearby the Wells Fargo Center along I-95 to get the last laugh. Betschel teamed up with BillboardsIn.com, an online tool used to conveniently purchase outdoor advertising, to make the campaign possible.

Using the NBA player’s crowned nickname “King James” to Cleveland’s advantage, the billboards poke fun at Philadelphia’s “Bad History with Royalty” and dig at the fact that Benjamin Franklin was a “Noted King Hater.” Along with this, both

billboards feature a subtle Game of Thrones reference with the hashtag #KingInTheNorth.

In a statement, Betschel commented how much LeBron James means to Ohio and how “there’s no love like hometown love and no substitute for the kind of multigenerational legacy he has crafted in Cleveland.”

He continued to note the impact LeBron has made to the city as a “transformational leader, especially for the younger generation,” and with this kind of value in mind, “the price of a few billboards seems like nothing.”

While it’s unclear what team LeBron James may join (or stay with) as a free agent this upcoming July, one thing for certain is that Cavaliers fans will protect their beloved king at all costs.
