Located in the historic Buchanan Arts district of Nashville, TN, Jones Paideia Magnet Elementary School has made it its mission to “positively provide service to all, collaboration with all, and innovation for all as we learn and grow in a positive learning environment.”
“At Jones Paideia, we teach our students to dream big as we create individualized pathways to make those dreams a reality,” Dr. Tesia Wilson, executive principal, said.
Wilson described the school as a “safe haven where minds are stretched, creativity is embraced, community is valued, voices are heard, and every student is known.”
The school offers both before and after school clubs, including cross country, soccer, chess, yoga, gardening, cooking, dance, art, theatre, coding, and more.
The school focuses on the Paideia philosophy, which focuses on creative and critical thinking through active learning methods such as Socratic seminar.
This method stems from Ancient Greek leaders, and is used to form well-rounded citizens by encouraging active participation and addressing all areas of a person (like mental, physical, and intellectual health), while teaching multiple areas of academia (like literature, math, and philosphy).
“We welcome you to grow with us as we integrate social-emotional learning and academic rigor,” Wilson said. “We hope you take the time to learn about the opportunities and possibilities our school has to offer.”
The school also has unique opportunities and offers, like their state-of-the-art auditorium and drama, dance, and art classes. They also partner with Nashville Children’s Theatre.
More information regarding what the school has to offer, including enrollment information, can be found on their website. You can also find them on Twitter.
