At Pee Dee Kids, owner and Early Intervention Supervisor T’Challa Y. Douglas provides quality, family-centered early intervention services for children up to six years old.
Services happen through family training visits in the child’s natural environment, like home or daycare. Douglas believes every child grows at their own pace, and Pee Dee Kids’ mission is to provide quality care with close, personal attention for each family.
Pee Dee Kids provides in-home early intervention in:
and parts of Chesterfield, Horry, Lee, Charleston, Berkeley, and Dorchester Counties.
“A system of services that helps babies and toddlers with developmental delays or disabilities.” — T’Challa Douglas
It focuses on helping eligible babies and toddlers learn the basic, brand-new skills that typically develop in the first three years of life:
Reaching, rolling, crawling, walking
Thinking, learning, solving problems
Talking, listening, understanding
Playing, feeling secure and happy
Eating, dressing
Douglas originally planned to be a music therapist but switched her major to psychology to work with families in a different way. She worked as a social worker and HASCI Coordinator, then earned her MA in Mental Health Counseling in 2005, when she came to understand that the earlier services begin for a child, the better.
