Some ad categories are restricted and have guidelines put in place by vendors that need to be followed in order to post. While those may vary depending on factors like location or vendor, here are some rules to follow in order to help get your art approved and running.
General Policies
- Copy must be factually accurate
- No Profanity
- No nudity/lewd content
- No violence/gore depicted
- No direct call-outs
- No Misleading, fraudulent or deceptive advertisements
- No promotion of illegal activity
- No depiction of the consumption of age-restricted substances (alcohol, tobacco, cannabis, etc.)
Guidelines for Political Ads
Must include a “Paid for By [Organization Name]” disclaimer that is at least 10” in height.
Guidelines for Advocacy Ads
Must include a “Paid for By [Organization Name]” disclaimer that is at least 10” in height.
Guidelines for Personal Ads
Must include a tag describing who is advertising or some form of contact information (ex: “Love, Mom”, a phone number/website/email), at a visible, readable size.
Guidelines for Religous Ads
Must include an organization name, logo, and/or website somewhere on the ad.
Guidelines for Cannabis Ads
Cannot depict actual cannabis or paraphernalia (ex: photos of the plant, photo of someone smoking), slang words like “weed” or “pot,” health claims, or copy that encourages transporting cannabis across state lines. Please ensure you also include all disclaimers and other information required by state guidelines for advertising cannabis.
Guidelines for Adult-Oriented Business Ads
Must be presented tastefully (no offensive written copy, no nudity, and no lewd sexualization in images used).

These are general guidelines, and all artwork is subject to vendor copy approval before moving into production. Vendors may require other or additional changes to be made to artwork than what is listed above before receiving approval. Standards vary from vendor to vendor in different markets.
